WHY PILGRIMAGE?
"Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage."
Psalm 84:5 (NIV)
Psalm 84:5 (NIV)
The wonder of travel is the opportunity to enter into a place, or a story, that’s different than our own. The immersion into the story of a country, culture, city, historical character, or even a piece of art, enriches our life as we explore God's good creation. Travel facilitates a newfound appreciation of the beauty and diversity in the world.
Travel also reveals the common sufferings, trials and tragedies of the human experience. In the midst of our many differences in language, food, customs, religion, and ways of life, we learn that we really aren’t that different. We understand that life is an arduous and tragic struggle where we are all navigating how to thrive in a broken world.
This paradox creates longings within us. Longings that point to the reality that this isn't our true home. The goal of pilgrimage isn't to wander endlessly, but rather, to find our true spiritual home, often through a sacred encounter. In the labyrinth of life, many have discovered the Way of Jesus because he reminds us not only who we are, but also reveals to us where life is found.
Craft pilgrim sets the table for you to encounter the heart of God through creation, content and conversation.
Specifically, we design pilgrimages around personas and places. We dive into stories of people who have taken Jesus’ invitation to follow him to heart. We travel to thin places where the raw beauty of creation restores and resurrects us for the journey ahead. Whether you are a person of faith or not, together we enter into these contexts and travel with purpose.
Themes we focus on are faith/work, spiritual formation, justice/reconciliation, calling/discernment, and art/activism. If you are part of a educational institution, professional network or faith community and desire to provide a transformational experience around these themes (or others), we can collaborate to provide custom content, logistics, and facilitation depending on desired outcomes.
