“It is in your hands, to make a better world for all who live in it.”

Nelson Mandela, or Madiba as affectionally called by the South African people, stood up against the injustice of apartheid, the systemic segregation of white, black and colored (Indian and/or mixed race) people imposed by the Afrikaans led government.
As a young lawyer he battled the laws that oppressed the majority of the South African people and would spend over 25 years in jail for his activism on behalf of others. Mandela's story is one of perseverance and transformation as he adapted from resorting to violent tactics to learning the culture and language of his oppressors.
He started a pilgrimage that became a long walk to freedom.
